Walker's Pace: Pifer to Try for "A"
Standard at Thursday's All-Comers Meet

Stephen
Pifer of OTC Elite will participate in a 1,500 meter race at the
end of Thursday night's OTC All-comer Meets meet at Historic Hayward Field in an effort
to reach the "A" standard in the event and claim a spot on Team USA
for the 2009 IAAF World Championships next month in Berlin.
Pifer
finished fourth in the 1,500 at the USA Track and Field Championships last
month, running 3:44.21. Both he and Arkansas' Dorian Ulrey, the third-place
finisher, are chasing the "A" standard of 3:36.20 for a spot on Team
USA.
Joining
Pifer in the race will be OTC Elite teammates Ryan Bak, Tom Brooks, Russell
Brown, Ben Bruce, John Jefferson, Billy Nelson and Mark Wieczorek.
The 1,500 is
scheduled for approximately 7:45 p.m. Thursday. There is no charge for
admission.
