Wisconsin will once again lead the way in the weight throw at the NCAA Division III championships in Iowa this weekend. The top four men all come from Wisconsin schools and the leading woman also hails from Wisconsin. University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has the strongest squad with Pete Delzer and Ben Ludtke with the top two men's seeds and Alexia Child as the top seeded woman. Ludtke has won 3 of 5 head-to-head competitions with Delzer this year, but Delzer is on a roll with wins at the last two meets. Both have thrown over 20 meters this season. Tony Sigrist (Wisconsin-Eau Claire) has also been competitive against both throwers and is a good threat to win.

The competition is a little less close on the women's side. Top seed Alexia Child has a personal best of 19.00m, two feet ahead of the nearest competitor. She has yet to lose to a D3 opponent this year and her last three meets have all been better than number two seed Sarah Timmons' (Oneonta) best from the year. On the performance list, Timmons is packed together with three other athletes in a battle for the podium. Allison Devor (Monmouth), Samantha Loew (Wisconsin-Oshkosh), and Brittany Frederick (Wisconsin-Eau Claire) have all thrown over 18 meters this year.
