my NEW health journey part 1

Hi mustang athletes and parents! I wanted to share my new and improved health story with my second family, lol. I have been doing lots of research on my own for the last 2+ years on nutrition. In January I enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I wil be a certified Health Coach when I graduate this December. My studies there have been great and have opened a whole new world to me. However, the field of alternative and natural medicine and nutrition is sooo varied and can be very overwhelming when you are looking for answers on how to cure specific symptoms. So, I am so grateful to now be training with my mentor, Maria Whalen, who is teaching me how to heal my body in a simple way that gets quick results. It is the best of both worlds really.

I am in week 4 of the 12 week program. What have I been able to accomplish in 4 short weeks? Well, to start, I have stopped taking my thyroid medication! A little background info: for the last 12 months I was suffering from severe hypothyroid symptoms (you may remember that I was rarely around during track season). I was a complete mess, always sick with infections, depressed, cold, and so much more. When I finally linked my sympotms to hypothyroidism, doctors explained that my thyroid was damaged from the radiation that I had for cancer treatments. My only option was to take thyroid medication for the rest of my life. Even naturopaths said that only some people could treat thyroid issues naturally. Anyway, here I am today and I have been off my meds for over two weeks now! The crazy thing to me was that it was so easy with the guidance of a health coach who knows what she is talking about! I also, have been feeling much more energetic and I finally feel like my vitality is returning. I can't think of anyone who isn't searching for how to get their youthful energy back.

That's about it for now. I will share my progress again soon. I wanted to share a quote I saw on FaceBook today: Just because you're NOT SICK does not mean that you are HEALTHY! That describes me exactly, everyone was shocked to here that I had cancer. I am DONE with the baby steps, the zhi3 program that I am in now (and soon to be coaching myself!) is all about quantam leaps...we don't mess around, haha!
