Announcing the First OHRunners Ohio High School Hammer Championship

The First OHRunners Ohio High School Hammer Championship will take place June 3rd, 2012 on the Ohio Wesleyan University campus in Delaware, Ohio.  The meet is designed for any athlete that is interested in throwing the hammer to get a chance compete, but to also showcase the elite hammer throwers that the state continues to produce.  Ohio currently has three athletes in the top 10 in the hammer throw in the nation. On the boys side Brynn Campbell (Canal Winchester) is ranked 5th with a throw of 209-2 and Darien Thornton (Wayne) is ranked 8th at 202-2.  For the girls, Erica King (Cuyahoga Falls) is ranked 9th with a throw of 158-11.

Where:

Ohio Wesleyan University Hammer Cage - Located next to Haycock Hall on Hayes St (turn off of S. Henry St. onto Hayes St. and park in the first parking lot on your left, the hammer cage will be in the field at the end of the parking lot) in Delaware, Ohio.

 

Awards:

Medals will be given to the top three overall athletes, as well as to the top three competitors from each division.

 

Entries:

All entries will be done on MileSplit.  Coaches can sign up athletes through the team registration or individual athletes can sign themselves up.

Individual athletes must register with MileSplit by clicking here, and then once registered you will need to claim your profile.  Once you have been approved, you will be able to go to http://oh.milesplit.com/meets/117802-ohrunners-ohio-high-school-hammer-championship and click on the green "Enter Online Now" button.  From here, just follow the on-screen directions to register for the event.

 

Entry Fee:

The entry fee is $10 per athlete when registering online, and $15 for day of meet registration.

Boys 12lbs. Hammer Throw (USATF Jr. National Qualifying Mark - 190-4 / New Balance Outdoor Nationals Qualifying Mark - 175-0)

Girls 4K Hammer Throw (USATF Jr. National Qualifying Mark - 164-0 / New Balance Outdoor Nationals Qualifying Mark - 125-0)

Boys 6K Hammer Throw (USATF Jr. National Qualifying Mark - 180-5.5) (No awards given for 6K Hammer Throw)
