Women s Track and Field Starts Strong at Greg Page Relays

Comments

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell women's track and field team started their indoor season with strong performances at the Greg Page Relays on Friday and Saturday in Barton Hall. The meet has been renamed to honor Greg for his role in founding the Big Red women's track and field program while a graduate student at Cornell in the 1970s. With Greg on hand, the Big Red were competitive in opening the indoor campaign, winning three events, producing three ECAC qualifiers and a freshman record while compiling more than 20 top five event finishes. At the conclusion of the meet, Meet Most Valuable Performer award winners were announced: junior co-captain Max Hairston and sophomore Grant Sisserson won MVP honors for the men's track and field categories, respectively; on the women's side, Binghamton's Christy DeMichele won the pole vault to win women's field honors while Toronto's Gabriela Stafford broke a 21 year old Barton Hall record in the 3K to win women's track MVP honors.
