[Women's Indoor Track and Field] Vikings Hit Four National Qualifying Marks, Set School Record ...

The Grand View women won four events, hit four national qualifying marks, and set a new GV record in their runner-up performance at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday. The Vikings finished with 81 team points, just seven points behind winner NIACC in the 11-team field.

Senior Jena Krebs' (Washington, Iowa) national qualifying toss of 17.95m in the weight throw met an NAIA 'A' standard and was also a new GV school record with the previous record held by 2012 national runner-up Lauryn Camp. She currently ranks No. 2 in the nation in the event. Krebs was also third in the shot put with a throw of 12.64m.

For the fourth-straight outing, senior Val Veiock (West Des Moines, Iowa) was dominant in the shot put and the weight throw. Veiock won the shot put with an NAIA automatic qualifying distance of 13.75m and was runner-up to Krebs in the weight throw with an NAIA 'A' toss of 17.33m.

Junior Amber Jones (Lee's Summit, Mo.) also hit a national qualifying mark in the weight throw with a fourth place and NAIA 'B' toss of 15.92m.

On the track, the women took first place in the 4x440m relay of freshman Ronnoja Ayers (Des Moines, Iowa), freshman Kennedy King (Davenport, Iowa), sophomore Lindsay Albert (Eldon, Iowa), and sophomore Katie Roberts(Ankeny, Iowa) and saw third place finishes from King in the 400m dash (1:01.64) and freshman Christa Nordgren (Kirkland, Ill.) in the 3000m run (20:29.99).

The Vikings next compete at the MCC Indoor Championships this Friday & Saturday. Schedule of events.
