Rio Grande Sports Information
FINDLAY, Ohio - A trio of new school records were established by a handful of athletes representing the University of Rio Grande at the Findlay Indoor Track & Field Classic, which took place Friday and Saturday, at the Malcolm Athletic Center on the Findlay University campus.
Nichole Worsham, a sophomore from Beavercreek, Ohio, set a school record and hit the "B" standard to qualify for the NAIA Indoor National Championships by virtue of her seventh-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter race walk. She crossed the line in a personal-best time of 16:59.77.
Also on the women's side, freshman Tyanna Petty (Somerset, OH) set a new school record in the Pentathlon with 2,756 points.
Sophomore Floyd Lowry (St. Paris, OH) set a new school record in the Heptathlon with 4,028 points. He also qualified for the NAIA nationals in the process, but will have to wait until the end of the season to see if his score ranks among the top 16 in the country.
