Derrick Withdraws from Olympic Marathon Trials

The U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials are less than three weeks away and while most of the top entries are putting the final touches on their training, unfortunately, Bowerman Track Club's Chris Derrick has decided he will not be competing. Derrick was set to run his first marathon, an event many think will ultimately be Derrick's best. Obviously Derrick is playing the long-game, listening to his body and not pushing through injury.

Bromell Continues Early Season Success

After throwing down a 6.59 60m performance at Texas A&M two weeks ago, Trayvon Bromell competed at the Rod McCravy Invitational this past weekend and won over a very strong 60m field in 6.54 seconds. Bromell edged out University of Houston junior Cameron Burrell, son of former 100m world record holder Leroy Burrell, who owned an early-season world leader of 6.55 seconds from last weekend.

Footballer Goodwin Leaps to a Strong Start

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin, a 2012 Olympian in the long jump, kicked off his 2016 season with a strong performance at the Rod McCravy Invitational, winning the men's long jump in 7.99m (26-2.5). The 25 year old was six inches off his indoor personal best, set in 2011. For Goodwin, this was a great start to his 2016 campaign and he showed plenty of early season consistency with four jumps over the 26-foot barrier.

Goodwin's series went as such:

7.56m
7.96m
7.82m
7.94m
FOUL
7.99m

Kynard Gets Season Going at Kansas State

Olympic silver medalist Erik Kynard opened up his 2016 campaign by competing at his aluma mater Kansas State University of Saturday. The four-time U.S. high jump champion won the competition with a best of 2.25m (7-4.5), edging out South Korea's Seunghyun Yun. Both Kynard and the 21-year old Yun broke Kynard's old meet record set back in 2011.
