Cross country heads to Big Sky Championships

OGDEN, Utah The Weber State men's and women's cross country teams will travel to North Dakota this week to run in the Big Sky cross country Championships. The women will be looking to win the title for a fourth consecutive year, while the men will face against two of the top teams in the nation. lt;br />The women's team will enter the championships with a huge target on their back after being head-and-shoulders above the rest of the conference the past three years. lt;br />During the their three-peat the Wildcats have produced the individual champion also, Summer Harper in 2013 and Amber Schulz in 2012 and 2011. They may not have to rely on that type of performance to bring home the title this season. The Wildcats top three runners, Jamie Stokes, Ellie Child and Hailey Ricks, will need to run well if the title is to return to Ogden. Stokes and Ricks were two of the Wildcats four all-conference runners from a season ago finishing sixth and eighth respectively. lt;br />But the runners to watch are going to be two freshmen, Paige Dilmore and Taylor Cox. Both runners have performed well throughout the season and will need to finish as close as they can to the top three to secure precious points. lt;br />"We have two freshmen in our top five and we are going to need good races out of them," WSU head coach Paul Pilkington said. "I think they will race good as well. But across the board, for us to win everyone is going to have to run well. But I think they are ready." lt;br />Northern Arizona will enter the championships having won the last seven men's title and look to continue that streak. NAU had been ranked as high as #2 earlier in the season, but they will have their hands full with Southern Utah. SUU will enter the meet after winning the prestigious Roy Griak meet earlier in the season. Nate Jewkes and company will look to bring home their first cross country title home to Cedar City. lt;br />The Wildcats shouldn'
