Wildcats pick up four qualifiers

OGDEN, Utah The Weber State men's and women's track and field teams picked up four new qualifiers at meets in California and Colorado. Mike Hardy (3,000m steeplechase), Trevor Ricks (3,000m steeplechase), Tawnie Moore (100m hurdles) and Katherine Wishmeyer (400m). lt;br />"The meet went well and we had a lot of improvements, in almost every event" Director of Track and Field Dan Walker said. "The goal is always to get better and get higher on the Big Sky which we did. We are continuing on the journey and getting better every day." lt;br /> lt;br />STANDFORD INVITE lt;br />Hardy ran the third-fastest time in the nation with a time of 8:42.58. That was a personal-best by nearly four seconds. Ricks placed eighth in his heat in a time of 8:55.81. lt;br />Ellie Child ran the 10th fastest time in school history in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a time of 10:26.60. She finished fifth in her heat. lt;br /> "Ellie ran really well and I am pleased with how hast she ran, " WSU distance coach Paul Pilkington said. "That was a huge improvement for her. I am happy with how Mike ran in his race as it's one of the top times in the nation. The steeplechase is a technical race and he is only going to run faster as the season goes on. His time puts him in a good position for the rest of the season." lt;br /> lt;br />TOM BENICH CLASSIC lt;br />On the women's side, Jazmin Porter took second in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 47-07.00. That mark is the fourth-best in school history. lt;br />Moore and Wishmeyer both took third in their respective events, 110-meter hurdles and 400-meters. lt;br />Emily Morgan took fourth in the 100-meters while Alex Van Halder took sixth. Van Halder then edged Morgan in the 200-meters as they placed fourth and fifth respectively. Taylor Cox ran a personal-best 2:14.26 in the 800-meters. lt;br />Both the 4x100 and 4x400-meter relay teams took second with times of 47.14 and 3:47.31. lt;br />On the men's side, Tony Osheku Jr. took first in the 1
