Wildcats send five to NCAA first round

OGDEN, Utah All eyes will be on the capital of Texas this weekend as they host the 2015 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships. The meet will run from May 28 to May 30 with the 12 qualifiers for each event advancing to the National Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The Wildcats will send five athletes who qualified in the top 48 in their respective events. lt;br />Mike Hardy and Trevor Ricks will both compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase against some of the best competition in the nation. Hardy enters the meet with the fourth-fastest time in the West Region having run 8:41.44 at the Payton Jordan Invitational. He will be in Heat 2, which includes last year's National Champion in the event, Anthony Rotich fom the University of Texas at El Paso. Ricks enters the meet having run 8:51.47 at the Mt. Sac Relays. He will have to run close to a personal-best if he is going to make it to the finals. His heat includes Stanley Kebenei from the University of Arkansas, who owns the fastest time in the nation. lt;br />Anthony Gregory will compete at this meet for the second straight season. Two weeks removed from winning his first Big Sky title and jumping a personal best. Gregory will look to keep that momentum going as he enters the meet ranked 18th with a mark of 7-01.00. lt;br />On the women's side, Jamie Stokes and Ellie Child will be the representatives for the women's team. Stokes enters the meet with the 27th fastest time in the 1,500 meters having run 4:22.38 at the Payton Jordan Invitational. That is the third-fastest time in school history but Stokes will have to run significantly faster if she hopes to get to Eugene. lt;br />In her first season running the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Child has been improving with each meet. Her time of 10:25.58 from the Payton Jordan Invitational is the 25th-fastest in the West Region. Running a massive personal-best w
