Dooney Excels at NCAA ChampionshipsPublished by
Yale men s cross country team junior Kevin Dooney competed in the NCAA Division I National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., for the second consecutive year on Saturday afternoon. Running alongside nearly 250 of the country s best athletes at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, Dooney finished a remarkable 34th overall in the 10k race with a time of 30:51.4. Of the five Ivy League runners to compete in Saturday s race, Dooney finished second, behind only Penn junior Thomas Awad. Both Dooney s time and overall finish marked substantial improvements from last year s Nationals race, where he placed 98th with a time of 31:18.5. By finishing in the top 40 at Nationals, Dooney also earned All-American honors—becoming the first Yale men s team All-American runner since Lucas Meyer 05 finished 18th at Nationals in 2004.
