CENTRAL PARK TRACK CLUB CPTC NEW BALANCE TO COMPETE AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS August 19, 2011 NEW YORK – Central Park Track Club New Balance will send two athletes to the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea. CPTC New Balance’s Julius Mutekanga will compete in the men’s 800 meters. Mutekanga recently graduated from Long Island University. Mutekanga has had breakout season since joining CPTC New Balance. He ran 1:46.30 at the Flanders Cup Ninove in Belgium to qualify for the World Championships, also hitting the “B” Qualifier for the Olympic Games. Mutekanga is currently Uganda’s top-ranked 800 meter runner. Joining Mutekanga at the World Championships is teammate Erison Hurtault. Hurtault was a standout from Columbia University. Hurtault won the 400 meters at the Flanders Cup Ninove. He also qualified for the World Championships and hit the “B” Qualifier for the Olympic Games. Hurtault will represent Dominica at the World Championships.
