Over the course of the last year, we've had the pleasure of seeing some great photographs from some great photographers who contributed their photo's to the site.  I asked Sherri Enders (Sherri-Enders.Smugmug.com) to single out of few of her favorites.

Recapping 2011 in Photo's ~ Sherri Enders

So out of 34,000 photographs from 2011, it was indeed a difficult task to analyze just a few favorites.

I had the pleasure of being down on the infield, seeing the athletes preparations as they warmed up and getting their head in the game.  I saw others going within; finding their inner strength through meditation.

 I heard fear, and excitement!

It has been a pleasure watching all the kids compete and they gave me much joy capturing their exceptional moments.

While photographing over the last few years, I have learned unique ways to not get injured while shooting.  Jeffery Demps can be quite scary to photograph.

He runs so fast and st rong and with all the photographers forming a large wall at the finish, we just hope he will detour at the end.  We all agree it feels like a freight train moving very fast towards you and your hair blows up when he passes.  A few of us have been hit a few times, but it was worth getting his shot at the Pepsi Relays.

Another important achievement that was incredible and deserves some notoriety are Marvin Bracy and Lindsey Enders who were the only 2 in all the classifications at the Florida State Track and Field Meet that set new State Meet Records and they did so with great style. Their pictures made the cut.

I got to shoot my first Javelin throws at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, and positioning myself to get a good shot proved difficult.   I  did manage to get to the left of the official, lay on the ground and shoot upward.   Found myself a little anxious as they ran fast and if by chance they tripped at the end, I'd personally by speared due to my positioning “just” for the best shot.  It was exciting.  So the Javelin shot made the cut.  I loved the intensity.

Another to make the cut was Lukas Verzbicas at the New Balance Indoor Nationals in New York City at the Armory and his 3 peat win!

He cleaned up for the day and the crowd roared!

My second to favo rite is our Charlotte guys after winning State in the 4x800.

They are just the nicest runners you could ever meet. They always give their all.

I promised I'd not take any pictures of them puking.....as they seemed to earn it just about every race which tells me they pushed themselves to the limit.

So I got a nice photograph, simple, but is one of my personal favorites.

My all time favorite was the State Meet 4A 4x400 which was the last race of the night, last race of the year and forever last State Meet race (at least for now) at Showalter Field in Winter Park, Florida.

St. Thomas Aquinas and Northwestern battled every inch of the way to a photo finish fight to the end; just like the entire season it seemed!

I was positioned close to the finish line, down on my knees and covered in dirt. The intensity of the race coupled with the desire of the two teams out for a "Gold Rush" bolstered the crowd right out of their seats and they roared!

The sound was so intense it was literally taking my breath away.  Amazingly I held a steady hand and accomplished several frames of quality work.

2011 produced some incredible races and memorable ones to say the least.

Looking forward to 2012 ~ Sherri
