Miami Belen Jesuit Senior, Elliot Clemente, announced today that he has verbally committed to the University of Florida. Elliot was a 2010 Foot Locker Finalist, finishing 5th at the South Regional and 25th at the National Finals in San Diego.

Elliot, along with the rest of his Belen Jesuit team, recently claimed the Florida High School Athletic Association 3A State Cross-Country Championship. This was Belen's 4th team championship of which Elliot has been an instrumental runner. He also claimed his first individual title, running 15:05, which was the fastest time of the 2011 State Championships.

Elliot led his Miami Havana Club Cross-Country team at Nike Cross Nationals Southeast Regional this past November, where he ran a personal best 5K time in a winning mark of 14:58 and helped Miami Havana earn a berth to the National Championship in Portland, Oregon.

Elliot placed 20th individually at the National Championships, leading his team to a 20th place overall finish.

Elliot is coached by Frankie Ruiz. Coach Ruiz has led Belen Jesuit to 5 Boys team championships and is currently tied for 1st amongst active Florida coaches for most cross country titles.
