Runner of the Year: Blaney rewrites Rattler record books with brillant career

After her freshman cross country season, Belleview’s Anne-Marie Blaney knew she had found a sport that suited her.
 

“I remember thinking ‘man, I can go forward with this sport,” said Blaney, now a senior and four-time state qualifier.
 

Blaney did more than just move forward. She rewrote the Belleview record books, polishing her cross country career off with her third consecutive Star-Banner girls runner of the year honor and her fourth athlete of the year honor overall (she won girls track runner of the year as a sophomore).
