Boys Prep of the Week: Josh Pelletier, Palmetto Ridge track and field

After competing all four years on both the varsity track and cross country teams, Palmetto Ridge senior Josh Pelletier was ready to finish his high school career on a high note.

Heading into the final turn of the 1,600 meters at the 3A state championships, Pelletier pulled away from the pack to finish in third place with a time of 4:22.31 in the final race of his high school career.

"He took off really well, and he knew that the runner from Charlotte (Ryan Schnulle) was going to be tough after racing against him several times this year, so I think he was just trying to keep pace with him," Palmetto Ridge coach Kim Butts said. "He was kind of in the pack around the last turn, but then he had a really strong finish. He was really aggressive and was able to pull away a little heading into that last stretch."
