North Central HS, Spokane, WA [3] Wins Firman (ID) Invitational by 80 points over California’s top team and event defender Arcadia to affirm status as national contender. 3. Carroll HS, Southlake, TX [2] No major meet, preparing for Nike South Invitational on Oct. 6 4. American Fork HS, American Fork, UT [5] Dominates Nebo Invitational with 29 points. Earlier, won Autumn Classic by 27 points over Davis while taking four of the top nine places. 5. Cardinal O’Hara HS, Springfield, PA [13] Wins Foundation Invitational by 35 points over North Allegheny with 30-second spread on Hershey state meet course, one of the toughest in the country. 6. Bishop Hendricken HS, Warwick, RI [7] Dominates Manchester (NH) Invitational, taking five of top 12 with 18-second spread. Eyes showdown with CBA and O’Hara at Great American (NC) on Saturday. 7. St. Xavier HS, Cincinnati, OH [NR] Wins Culver (IN) Invitational by 52 points over Carmel and other regional powers. 8. Arcadia HS, Arcadia, CA [10] Distant second to North Central (WA) at Firman meet after winning Woodbridge (CA) sweepstakes title by 90 points on lightening-fast course the week before. 9. The Woodlands HS, The Woodlands, TX [22] Takes five of top eight led by victorious Brigham Hedges on fast 3-mile course at Andy Wells Invitational at Kingwood High. 10. St. Xavier HS, Louisville, KY [17] Defeats York (IL) by 12 points at Palatine (IL) Invitational after winning Trinity (KY) Invitational over Carmel (IN) and several SE region powers the previous week. 11. Carmel HS, Carmel, IN [15] Distant second to St. Xavier (OH) in Culver (IN) meet after 2-point loss to St. Xavier (KY) in Trinity (KY) meet. 12. York HS, Elmhurst, IL [4] Second to St. Xavier (KY) at Palatine meet after winning Notre Dame Invitational by 79 points over state powers the previous week. 13. Fayetteville-Manlius HS, Manlius, NY [12] No major meet, probably won’t race hard until Oct. 13 Manhattan meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. 14. Kamiakin HS, Kennewick, WA [20] Wins Sundodger Invitational over Gig Harbor with six of top 20 places to cement its position as a strong second to North Central in Washington. 15. Jones College Prep, Chicago, IL [NR] Surprise team of the season takes third at Palatine meet, 1 point behind York, with four runners in the top 17. 16. Stillwater HS, Stillwater, MN [9] Wins Milaca Mega meet by 97 points. 17. Bismarck HS, Bismarck, ND [16] Undefeated national threat Jake Leingang leads Demons to easy win at Anderson/Stavn Invitational, taking 5 of the top 10 places. 18. Dowling Catholic HS, W. Des Moines, IA [24] Wins Heartland Classic by 96 points against several Heartland Region powers as Minnesota contender Wayzata places distant fourth. 19. Dos Pueblos HS, Goleta, CA [6] Bryan Fernandez continues torrid pace with 14:19 3-mile victory at Woodbridge Invitational while the Chargers place fifth on speed-biased “track-fast” course. 20. Cleveland HS, Rio Rancho, NM [NR] Defeats Los Alamos by 3 points in Socorro Stampede as victorious Luis Martinez continues comeback after sitting out the summer with an injury. 21. Los Alamos HS, Los Alamos, NM [18] Earlier victory over Cleveland is reversed as Hilltoppers place close 2nd in Socorro meet. 22. Mountain Vista HS, Highlands Ranch, CO [23] Wins John Martin Invitational taking five of the top 15 places with a 22-second spread. 23.
