Erdman commits to ThunderbirdsPublished by
UBC Track and Field Head Coach Marek Jedrzejek is pleased to announce the commitment of Sir Winston Churchill High School’s Adrianne Erdman (Calgary, AB) to his women’s track and cross-country program. Erdman, who represented Canada at the Commonwealth Youth Games this past September in the 2km steeplechase, will add depth to a young and steadily improving women’s distance squad.
Among other accomplishments, Erdman was a second-place finisher at the 2011 Canadian Legion Youth Nationals in the 2km. In the process, her personal best time of 6:48.29 set three Alberta records (Youth, Junior and Senior). She was also the 2011 Alberta High School 1500m champion with a time of 4:49.72.
Choosing to open up her season down south with trips to San Diego and Los Angeles this upcoming weekend (April 28th -29th), Erdman looks to cap off her high school track career with a repeat win at the Alberta High School Provincial Championships in June. She will begin her studies this fall in the Faculty of Commerce at UBC’s Sauder School of Business.
“I am very pleased that we landed another Canadian National team member on our team. In addition to her excellent steeplechase record on the track, she will add a lot of power to our female cross country team”, said Head coach Marek Jedrzejek.
“It is an honour to be accepted into the world renowned Sauder Business School and race for the Thunderbirds. I have heard great things about the reputation of the UBC track program and look forward to contributing to the ongoing success of this team. I'm excited to work with coach Marek and the other athletes in the coming years”, echoed Erdman.
