ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A second-place finish in the distance medley relay to conclude day one and a trio of Grizzlies moving on to their respective finals highlighted day one of the 2011 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championships for host institution Adams State on Friday.

The DMR was the lone finals event of the day for the Grizzly women, who currently sit in a tie for eighth place with eight points. Grand Valley State (Mich.) leads the hunt for the team title with 29 points, followed by Ashland with 11 points. Shippensburg (Pa.), New Haven (Conn.), Fort Hays (Kan.) State and Minnesota State are locked in a four-way tie for third heading into the final day of action at the Albuquerque (N.M.) Convention Center.
