WINDSOR — A couple of Guelph speedsters scorched the University of Windsor track Friday to strike gold on the first day of the two-day OFSAA West high school track and field championships.

Alison Fraser of Ross and Marissa Kurtimah of Guelph CVI ignored cool, windy and sometimes damp conditions to claim senior girls’ championships.

Fraser, who ran to unchallenged wins in the senior girls’ 400 metres at the District 10 and CWOSSA championship meets, won Friday in 56.36 seconds.
