NewsGuelphMercury - Local athletes qualify for OFSAA finalsLocal athletes qualify for OFSAA finalsLONDON — Athletes from Our Lady of Lourdes brought home two gold medals from the OFSAA West regional track and field meet on the weekend. Rawle Groothuizen took first place in the midget boys 3000 metres and Austin Baggio won the junior boys shot put event. Groothuizen won his race in a time of nine minutes, 41.82 seconds — finishing just one tenth of a second ahead of second place finisher Brandon Thomas of Paris. Baggio’s throw of 15.11 metres was good enough for gold in the shot put. The top four finishers in each event advance to OFSAA finals June 2 to June 4 in Sudbury.
