From the web: Dylan Wykes takes lead in race to London Olympics

Exciting news for Vancouverites, and some of our own athletes who train under coach Richard Lee -- via HarryJerome:

Dylan Wykes and Rob Watson traveled to Rotterdam last Sunday seeking the coveted Olympic standard to represent Canada at the London Olympic Games.  Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gillis had already achieved the Olympic standard of 2h11:30 in the Toronto marathon last fall with their 2H10:55  and 2H11:28, leaving at least one spot open for the 3rd selection.

Dylan’s move out west to join coach Richard Lee in the Vancouver area, proved successful as he improved his personal best by over 2 minutes to record the second fastest time by a Canadian with 2H10:47 on the windy Rotterdam course. Only Jerome Drayton’s 2H10:09 is faster and only two others have dipped under the 2H11:00 barrier.  Peter Butler’s time of 2H10:56 was edged by Reid Coolsaet’s 2H10:55 last fall.

Rob Watson improved his personal best by almost 3 minutes with his 2H13:37 run in Rotterdam. This situation suggests that Dylan, Reid and Eric are almost certainties of selection to the Canadian Olympic team on June 30th this year.
