Hole-Lee moley!Published by
A sunny but windy UBC Open kicked off the outdoor track season for Point Grey TFC's Nigel Hole and Kirsten Lee on Saturday at the Rashpal Dhillon UBC Track & Field Oval.
In the men's 800 m, Point Grey's Nigel Hole battled for the win with Coastal Track's Adam Paul-Morris, with Paul-Morris prevailing in 1:55.57 over Hole's time of 1:55.66. Hole later fought the wind again in pacing the top section of the 1,500 m through about 1,000 m, and at the end of the day did a great job of pacing the 3,000 m through 1,600 m.
Meanwhile, UBC first-year Kirsten Lee dropped down to the 1,500 m, clocking 5:07.77. The race went off fast from the gun, with a pacer leading Simon Fraser's Helen Crofts (who was competing unattached) through 800 m in about 2:10, though the pace slowed thereafter.
A handful of Point Greyers were also in attendance volunteering their time. Big thanks to Dylan Gant, Sam Pawluk, Aaron Weidman, Jen Moroz, Nick Thomas, and Nigel Hole for helping out.
