Montreal, QC - The University of Guelph Track and Field teams had a strong showing at the McGill Team Challenge this past weekend (Jan. 23 & 24) with both teams placing second overall in the team scored competition. The Gryphons won two events and had medal performance in nine others. Headlining the Gryphons result was Taylor Corney's record setting win in the men's pentathlon. Corney won the event by an incredible 250 points with a score of 3848 points, a mark that ranks him first in the country ahead of last year's gold and silver medalist; in the process Corney broke the meet and University of Guelph school records. The transfer student had impressive marks in the high jump (2.02 metres) and shot put (14.82 metres), events that he is now ranked 8th and 6th in the CIS respectively.
