UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND HEAD TRACK COAH ANDREW VALMON TO APPEAR ON THE RUNAROUND
Baltimore, MD – January 15, 2012 – University of Maryland Head Track and Field Coach Andrew Valmon—also an Olympic Gold Medalist (1988 and 1992) and World Record Holder in the 4x400m relay—will appear on The Runaround to discuss the University’s sports cuts this Monday, January 16, at 5:00 p.m. on ESPN 1300 AM.
Valmon, who will be joined by current men’s track team captain Zack Ray, will cover topics including the athletic department’s budget crisis, team fundraising, the University of Maryland Indoor Track Invitational, and the 2012 track season, among other issues.
Additionally, show hosts Brad Jaeger and Greg Jubb will talk to sports writer and University of Maryland Track and Field Alum Dave Ungrady about his perspective on the issue and how alumni are banding together to support the cause of saving the men’s track team. Ungrady, who recently authored Born Ready: The Mixed Legacy of Len Bias, has worked at the Washington Post, AOL, and Voice of America and has produced segments for ESPN, CNN, and NBC.
Running Maryland’s The Runaround, the only radio show in the Mid-Atlantic area dedicated to the sport of running, will be broadcasted from 1300 AM – Baltimore’s ESPN Radio every Monday at 5:00 p.m. to talk about all the latest issues in the running community. Likewise, Running Maryland will film each installment of the show to later offer it online at runningmaryland.com for viewers to watch on-demand.
