As a freshman, Smith went a long way in making a name for herself. She was second at the CIF-Southern Section Division 2 championships in 24.71 seconds. She took third in the Ventura County Championships in the 200 with a time of 24.49. Her best time of the season was 24.41 at the CIF-SS prelims. Although recognized here for her work in the 200, Smith also shined in the 100, winning the CIF-SS Division 2 title in 11.63, and was part of the Division 2 champion 4x100 relay team (47.32). Smith lists photography as among her hobbies. Her favorite athlete is Allyson Felix and her favorite team is the Oregon Ducks. Her top movies are "Dirty Dancing," "Bring It On" and "Beauty and the Beast." She likes eating pasta and chocolate and her favorite TV show is "Pretty Little Liars."
