(Geneva, Ohio) One year ago, Cornerstone senior, Cody Risch waged a three-way battle over the final lap of the 3,000 meter race walk reaching the finish line first in an apparent meet record. Moments later, he was informed that he had been disqualified. On the second day of the 2014 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the same three men met again.

II Lake Superior State University.  In doubles play, all 3 matches were very closely contested, all finishing with a match 8-6 score.  However, Cornerstone fell short at 1 & 2 doubles, but picked up a crucial point with the #3 doubles combination of Alex Tarnow & John Andrew.  Knowing there was little margin for error in singles, Cornerstone would have to win 4 of those 6 matches to win the match, which was exactly what they ended up doing.  Winning for Cornerstone in singles was Elijah Yi, Chris Reed, Andrew Son, and Alex Tarnow.  Said Coach Erickson on today's action:  "This was our second 5-4 match of the very young year, so it was very nice to come out on the winning side today.  Plus, it broke a 3 match losing streak, which will help get our season back on track.  I was very pleased with the way we played today.  We were solid all around, which we needed to be to beat this team.  We are heading into the last week of dual matches for the fall, so hopefully this win can jump start us to finish the season strong."

Next up for Cornerstone is Adrian College on Wednesday September 25 at Orchard Hills Swim & Sports Club.
