JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Sophomore Joe Miceli was 37th in the men s pole vault and graduate student Jacob Platel was 38th in the men s hammer, highlighting Binghamton s performance at the NCAA East Regional Outdoor Track & Field Meet, which concluded on Saturday at North Florida. There was no team scoring in the meet which marked the Bearcats final competition of the season.

Miceli was seeded No. 48 heading into the meet but his height of 15-11 vaulted him nine spots higher than his projected placement. Platel, meanwhile, held on to his No. 38 seed with a distance of 187-4.

Both Platel and Miceli were first-time entrants in the NCAA East Regional Meet.

Since 2004, Binghamton has had 29 men s qualifiers for the NCAA Outdoor Regional Meet and eight women s selections. From that meet, Rory Quiller advanced to the 2006 and 2007 NCAA Championships while Erik van Ingen went in 2011 and 2012.
