Girls win Swedish Medley Relay GOLD, Orji gets 2nd medal
Orji, Washington win 2nd indiv. medals; 5-medal finale
also includes bronze for Rogers, boys relay silver


HIGHLIGHTS

  • G-Swedish Medley Relay Final: 2:05.15 GOLD MEDAL run by Team USA (Dior Hall 100, Ky Westbrook 200, Raevyn Rogers 300, Olivia Baker 400). All 4 team members already had individual medals.  Team USA now has seven golds in the event, starting a new streak after its run of six was broken in 2011.
  • G-Long Jump Final: US#2 20-11.75(-1.2w) SILVER MEDAL jump by Mt. Olive NJ jr Keturah Orji. Orji's performance is the best ever by a Team USA athlete in the LJ and she becomes the first American ever to medal in two jumps in a WYC (TJ bronze). Also, 20-3.75(-0.2w) by Courtney Corrin in 5th. It was the first time two Americans have finished top 5 in the LJ final.
  • B-Swedish Medley Relay Final: 1:50.14 SILVER MEDAL run by Team USA (Jaalen Jones 100, Noah Lyles 200, Taylor McLaughlin 300, Ryan Clark 400). Team USA now has six golds and two silvers in the event. Though Team USA was beaten, and had only 1 individual medalist/finalist, their time was 2nd only to their 2011 WYB.
  • G-800m Run Final: US#2 2:03.32 BRONZE MEDAL run by Kincaid School TX jr Raevyn Rogers, followed by Grosse Pointe South MI soph Ersula Farrow 2:13.56 in 8th. Rogers' medal was Team USA's 1st bronze ever and 2nd ever overall (Ajee Wilson gold in 2011). It was also the 2nd straight WYC with two Americans in the final.
  • G-200m Dash Final: 23.20(-0.1w) BRONZE MEDAL run by Long Beach Poly CA jr Ariana Washington, followed by US#5 23.44 by Hannah Cunliffe WA in 4th. Washington becomes the 3rd American to medal in the 100 and 200 (Bianca Knight 2005, Ashton Purvis 2009) and is the 3rd to earn bronze in the 200 (10th medalist overall).
  • B-1500m Run Final: US#1 3:44.69 for Stockdale CA jr Blake Haney in 5th, followed by 3:52.00 by Grand Blanc MI jr Grant Fisher in 9th.  Haney's time and place are the best ever by Team USA in this event, and it's the first time two Americans have finished 9th or better.
  • B-Pole Vault Final: 16-4.75 by El Pason Franklin TX soph Paulo Benavides for 4th, followed by 16-0.75 by Sumner LA jr Devin King in 6th. Benavides' finish was the 3rd best by Team USA in the event and it was the 2nd time two Americans finished in the top 6.
