Building upon last summer's Elite Camps for distance runners and sprinters, Nike has created new high school events for the Prefontaine Classic, May 29 at Hayward Field in Eugene.

The inaugural miles and 200s will feature some of the top high school athletes in country.

Although many states are still engaged in the championship portions of their seasons, Nike was able to get commitments from some of the top athletes who have already completed their high school seasons.

Girls 200m
Sophomore sensation Candace Hill of Rockdale County GA will make her first trip to the West Coast since competing at the Golden West Invitational in California last June. Hill is the national leader in the 100 meters (11.30) and the 200 meters (23.05) and two weeks ago lowered her own Georgia state championships records in both events. She'll be joined on the starting line by four sprinters from Florida, including Nike Elite camper Diamond Spaulding, the 4A champion in the 200 (US#3 23.21).

Also in the field is Christina Aragon from Billings MT, who ran 4:16.36 in the 1,500 at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational. Aragon's time moved her to No. 5 all-time. The resurgent Colter, a Cal signee, is US#1 in the full mile with 4:45.24 and US#2 in the 800 (2:04.56) -- trailing only Nike pro Alexa Efraimson.
