Girls Regional Rankings, 11/3/16

Southeast

Lake Braddock VA moves into the top spot after a dominating sweep at the Virginia Conference 7 Championship. South Forsyth GA enters the top five for the first time this season after finishing two points behind Milton GA at the Coach Wood Invitational.

South

Southlake Carroll TX confirmed its top spot in the South Region with an 11-point win over Keller TX at the Texas 6A Region 1 Championship. Hebron TX and Marcus TX finished third and fourth in the same meet.

Heartland

Johnston IA has begun to close the gap on Willmar MN after the Iowa state meet, where the Dragons won with 26 points. Minnetonka MN moves to No. 4 after beating Wayzata MN by 12 points at the Minnesota Section 6AA meet.

Midwest

No changes this week in the Midwest. However, Glenbard West IL has become vulnerable as its No. 3 runner has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to illness. The Hilltoppers continue to be the No. 4 team in Illinois, but could face challenges from out of state in Terre Haute.

New York

All of the ranked teams in New York were active this week. Fayetteville-Manlius dominated the CNYCL League Championship in what was likely the best girls team performance of the season thus far. Shoreham-Wading River also had its best showing of the season at the Section 11 Divisional Championships and move up to No. 4.

Northeast

Oakland Catholic PA continues to hold the top spot in the Northeast Region, but now three New Jersey teams are lined up behind the Pittsburgh all-girls school. This week, Colts Neck NJ moves into the top five for the first time after winning the Shore Conference Championships.

Southwest

Broomfield CO moved up to No. 2 this week after beating Mountain Vista CO at the Colorado state meet by seven points. The competition for that second automatic berth to NXN could be very tight.

Northwest

The Montana schools have made big gains in this week's rankings after an impressive showing at the Montana state meet. Tiahna Vladic of Billings Senior won the AA race, but surprisingly Camila Noe of Bozeman was close behind, giving a big boost to the Hawks’ potential in the post season. Mountain View ID has pulled into a virtual tie with Jesuit OR for the No. 2 spot. Jesuit maintains their previous position with their stronger 4 and 5 runners.

Palos Verdes took advantage of competing in the Division 1-2 team sweepstakes at the Mt. SAC Invitational to finish second behind Great Oak, defeating Claremont, Arcadia and a short-handed Davis Senior lineup. Davis, at full strength, rebounded to hold off an improved St. Francis Sacramento team in the Delta League finals. Claremont placed seven in the top 12 at the Palomares League championship meet in preparation for another showdown with Division 2 rival Saugus after defeating the Centurions at Mt. SAC. Great Oak won the Mt. SAC Division 1 sweepstakes for the eighth consecutive year.
