Since putting on her first Aggie singlet, the 20-year-old, sophomore has made a habit of winning championships and breaking records in the 400m hurdles. Her latest championship victory came today at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, where she won decisively in a time of 55.50 with Canadian Sarah Wells taking second in 56.17. Earlier this year, Little became the youngest woman to ever break 54 seconds in the 400m hurdles with 53.74 and was the first hurdler to win NCAA and USATF Championship titles in the same year since Sheena Johnson in 2004. Little now hopes to add another title to her list at August’s World Championships in Beijing, China. Her 53.74 is the current world best. The only other women in the world to have run under 54 seconds this year are Czech Republic’s Zuzana Hejnova’, who is the event’s reigning World Champion, and Denmark’s Sara Peterson. Both will challenge Little in Beijing, along with her USA teammates Cassandra Tate and Kori Carter.
