Armory College Prep Students Visit Hofstra and AdelphiPublished by
By Jesse Schneider, Armory College Prep Counselor and Instructor Earlier this week, Armory College Prep (ACP) members visited Hofstra and Adelphi Universities on Long Island to learn more about these colleges and to immerse themselves in the typical undergraduate experience. ACP began the day at Hofstra where students attended the “College for a Day” event. The morning began with presentations from deans of Hofstra’s various colleges. Next, students attended sessions focused on admissions, financial aid, and life on campus. Finally, Emily, a Hofstra junior, led a guided tour to show our students some of the university’s impressive facilities, including a communications school equipped with television and radio stations, one of six on-campus theaters, and a business school featuring a stock trading room. Emily also discussed on-campus dining, extracurricular activities, and study abroad opportunities. After a short lunch break, ACP continued on to Adelphi University where Sabrina, a sophomore psychology major, gave students a tour of the campus. ACP members enjoyed seeing the college library, performing arts center, athletic facilities, and dining halls. Sabrina also answered questions about the application process and academics at Adelphi. “The campuses seemed intimidating from the outside, but were unique when we actually explored them,” ACP senior Seona Clarke explained. “The classrooms seemed small at both schools and it looks like you can get help if you need it. All in all, I can see myself doing great at both schools!” Learn more about the Armory College Prep program here: http://www.armory.nyc/armory-college-prep/ |
