FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 16, 2008
Eugene, Oregon – By: Mark Rinker – OTCelite.com. In the last week of competition before the USA Indoor Championships, a select few OTC Elite athletes competed at the Husky Classic. The competition in Seattle was geared towards qualifying and tuning-up for the National Championships next week.

The men’s 800 meters was the highlight of the meet for OTC with Kevin Elliott finishing second in an indoor personal best of 1:48.45. Following closely behind Elliot in fourth place with a time of 1:48.99 was OTC teammate Christian Smith. Both athletes’ performances were fast enough to qualify for the U.S. National Championships next weekend in Boston.

In other events OTC accomplished many of its Pre-Nationals goals. In the men’s mile Bolota Asmerom, using the race as a prelude to next weekend’s 3,000 meters at Nationals placed seventh in a respectable time of 4:01.34. In the women’s 3,000 meters, Brinanna Dahm raced to seventh place in a time of 9:29.57. Dahm’s race was her first race of the year and proved to be a good rust buster as she looks towards the outdoor season and her preferred event the 3,000 meter Steeplechase.

Complete results from the Husky Classic can be found on the University of Washington’s website at: www.gohuskies.com. Race video and interviews can be found on the Husky Classic Fan site.

In other weekend action - During Friday night’s prestigious Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas OTC Elite’s Brandon Shaw raced his way to 1:48.84, and a third place finish.  Shaw’s time was also a USATF Indoor Championships qualifying time by nearly two seconds.  According to Shaw, “This is an indoor PR (Personal Record), and it’s the fastest that I have ever opened, so it wasn’t a bad race.”

More in depth results can be found on the Tyson Invitational website at:  www.flashresults.com/2008_Meets/indoor/Tyson.  The meet was televised on ESPN on Sunday, February 17th on ESPN from 5-7 p.m. (EST).
