Cocoa Beach Senior Shelby Davidson verbally commits to the Florida Gators
2010 Foot Locker Nationals Finalist and 2011 Florida 2A State Cross Country Champion, Shelby Davidson, Cocoa Beach High School, announced today she has verbally committed to the University of Florida Gators. Shelby's brother Tyler also attends Florida and is also a member of the Gators Track and Field and Cross Country teams.
During her Junior season in 2010, Davidson finished 2nd in the State 2A Cross Country finals and subsequently placed 9th at the Foot Locker South Regional earning a berth to the Foot Locker Nationals Championships where she placed 33rd overall.
On the Track this past Spring, Davidson anchored her Cocoa Beach 4x800 Relay team to a 4th place finish at the State Finals and also finished 4th in the 1600. She capped off a great State Final by finishing 2nd in the 3200 and helping her team to a third place finish in the team standings.
Davidson chose the University of Florida citing "it's just the most amazing place to be" and that she knew she wanted to be a Florida Gator within an hour of her official visit. With "dedicated and inspirational coaches" and an "amazing Girls team that she fits in with very well", Davidson is very anxious to don the Blue and Orange for the Florida Gators.
