INDIANAPOLIS - Heather Kampf (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Craig Miller (Madison, Wisc.) will challenge for USA 1 Mile Road Championship titles Thursday in Minneapolis. The event is part of the USA Running Circuit and is hosted by the Medtronic TC 1 Mile for the fourth time. Kampf has run the fastest 1500m time of the field this year with her 4:13.89 performance at the Drake Relays. Alisha Williams (Colorado Springs, Colo.) owns times in the top ten in the U.S. in the 5,000m and 10,000m this year and should be a contender for the title, along with steeplechaser Mason Cathey (Indianapolis, Ind.). Miller boasts the fourth fastest time in the 1500m in the U.S. this year with his 3:37.48 performance at Stanford, and has also run 3:56.41 for the mile at Mt. SAC. Miller’s top challengers include USA Cross Country champion Bobby Mack (Raleigh, N.C.) and runner-up Aaron Braun (Flagstaff, Ariz.). While it happened in a different sport, one entrant in the race has already qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games. Triathlete Gwen Jorgensen (Minneapolis, Minn.), who ran track and swam for the University of Wisconsin, will see how she fares in in her first road mile.
