American Distance Project Welcomes Ten New Talents

American Distance Project Welcomes Ten New Talents
(Colorado Springs, CO) Embarking on its second year of success, the American Distance Project, a non-profit founded in 2011 to aid in the development of American distance runners, announces the addition of ten talented new comers.
The ADP welcomes eight men in Robert Cheseret, Augustus Maiyo, Kyle Heath, Brandon Birdsong, Mack McLain, Matt Levassiur, Matthew Cameron, and Matt Elliot; and two women in Mattie Suver and Stephanie Bylander.
Robert Cheseret competes for the U.S. Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) and was a 2012 Olympic Trials finalist in the 5,000-meters. Cheseret, who was the 2005 NCAA 10,000-meter champion, is a naturalized citizen and is the younger brother of Bernard Lagat. He holds personal bests of 13:13.23 for 5,000m and 28:20.11 for 10k and was the 2010 US 5k champion.
Augustus Maiyo also competes for the U.S.Army’s WCAP and finished 10th in the 2012 Olympic Trials 3k Steeplechase. Maiyo, who graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008, had an NCAA best finish of 6th in the same event and holds a personal best of 8:29.29.
Kyle Heath is the fourth member of the U.S. Army’s WCAP in the ADP and is also the newest to the program. Heath, a graduate of Syracuse, has a 3k steeplechase best of 8:29.34 and finished a high of 6th in the NCAA championships. Heath holds personal bests of 3:59.83 and 8:00.14 for the mile and the 3,000-meters, respectively.
Brandon Birdsong is a 2011 graduate of Adams State University and finished 4th in the 2010 NCAA DII Cross Country Championships. Birdsong, who competes for adidas/Boulder Running Company, holds a track best of 14:09.55 for 5,000-meters.
Mack McLain, also now with adidas/Boulder Running Company, is a 2012 graduate of Colorado School of Mines and is a two time NCAA DII national champion at both the indoor mile and the outdoor 1500-meters. He holds personal bests of 3:43.20, 4:02.70, and 14:08.53 for the 1500, mile and 5k, respectively.
Matt Levassiur, another adidas/Boulder Running Company athlete, was an NCAA DII national runner-up in the 10,000-meters competing for Adams State and holds personal bests of 13:52.32 for 5k; 28:53.49 for 10k, 64:47 for the half marathon and 2:18:58 for the marathon.
Matthew Cameron is a graduate of Mississippi State and has personal best of 3:44.52 for 1500-meters and 14:20.67 for 5,000-meters. He was a high school All-American with a 4th-place finish at Nike Outdoor Nationals with a 4:07.32.
Matthew Elliot rejoins the ADP after a year-long stint with Team Indiana Elite. Elliot, who competes for Brooks, has bests of 3:40.52 for 1500-meters; 3:58.96 for the mile; 7:58.20 for 3,000-meters and 13:55.78 for 5,000-meters.
Mattie Suver, also with Brooks, is a graduate of the University of Oregon and had a collegiate high finish of 7th in the 10k at the NCAA championships. Suver has personal bests of 4:25.04 for 1500-meters; 9:17.49 for 3,000-meters; 16:02.48 for 5,000-meters and 33:37.73 for 10,000-meters. She was an U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier with a 74:49 half marathon and won both the Seattle and Dallas half marathons.
Stephanie Bylander, who competes for adidas/Boulder Running Company, was a two-time NCAA DII national runner-up at 10,000-meters while competing for Adams State and has personal bests of 16:14.56 for 5k and 34:00.70 for 10,000-meters.
