Zayed International Half-Marathon Results (Corrected)Published by
Zayed International Half-Marathon (2nd) Abu Dhabi, UAE; Thursday, January 7 Distances: 21.1 km (flat point-to-point course) and 6 km Finishers: Half-Marathon, 70 men + 28 women = 98 total; 6 km, 275 men + 20 women = 295 total Prize Money: Indicated in USD Event Records: New for both men and women NOTE: The largest first place payday in all of road running was offered by this race ($300,000), and Tilahun Regassa and Mary Keitany earned those big prizes. Regassa, last year's CIGNA Falmouth Road Race champion, got a tussle from Sammy Kitwara, but won by 15 seconds in a personal best 59:19. Keitany, the IAAF World Half-Marathon Champion, waxed the field. According to news reports, the event was somewhat marred by shakey organization, including poor course control, last minute schedule changes (which caused some athletes to miss the starts of companion races), and course cutting --Ed. NOTE II: Duncan Kibet was not listed in the electronic results, but his manager reported that he finished 9th in 61:00. We have included him --Ed.
