Erik Boal to lead DyeStat coverage in California
By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Erik Boal, an award-winning sports writer who has covered the prep scene in the Los Angeles area for 20 years, has become the new editor of DyeStatCal. Boal, who is wrapping up 10 years at the LA Daily News and spent a previous decade at the Glendale News Press and Burbank Leader (Times Community Newspapers), brings an extensive understanding of the state and a storytelling craft honed over many years to the job. "There are so many inspirational athletes and motivational coaches with great stories to tell and I'm excited to connect with those individuals and share those stories with the readers of DyeStatCal," Boal said. Boal takes over for Scott Joerger, who has been the editor since DyeStatCal's relaunch in February of 2013. Joerger, who already has a full-time job, decided earlier this summer that he wanted to step aside and spend more of his off-hours with his family. He will continue to be a contributor and consistent presence in the California forum.
Boal has covered the past 13 CIF cross country championships and the past nine CIF Finals in track. "I'm honored and humbled about the opportunity and I look at it as a great challenge," he said.
Please welcome Erik to the DyeStat and RunnerSpace family. More news
