Edward Cheserek of St. Benedict's Prep, a senior who is the nation's premier high school distance runner, will be focused on his studies this fall (primarily his SAT), leaving his race schedule for the cross-country season very much up in the air, St. Benedict's Prep coach Marty Hannon said today.
``His grades are good, but he needs to take the SAT in October
and perhaps again in December so he gets the Clearinghouse and all of that behind him,'' said Hannon. ``Our No. 1 priority and the bottom line is that Edward will focus on his studies and the SAT, which means he won't be racing or visiting any colleges until we get this behind us.''
