Pine Crest Girls just got a whole lot better in 2A

The Fall XC season is still 5 weeks from starting.  One thing we do know for sure.  The transfer of former Gulliver Prep stand-out Alyssa Pujals to Pine Crest for her senior year has made them a more formidable force in 2A.

Last year, Alyssa finished 5th in the 2A State XC finals clocking 18:40.  Joining her on the podium with top 10 honors in 2014, new Pine Crest teammates Julia Montgomery, the 2012 and 2013 State XC Champion who finished 8th, along with the 2014 State XC Champion for Pine Crest, Tsion Yared.

They will all return in 2015 adding considerable depth to a Pine Crest team that finished runner-up by 10 points to Bolles HS, 46-56, averaging 19:23.

Pine Crest head coach Coach Bauer, "Going into this season our teams are very focused on doing what it takes to get on the podium again.  With the addition of Alyssa, it definitely increases our chances.  She brings a tremendous work ethic and will have a big impact helping our team achieve its goals this season."

Bolles is seemingly always a deep team and has won the last 3 State Championships.  Pine Crest has finished runner-up the last 3 years.

Will this be the year Pine Crest finally has the depth to overtake Bolles or has Bolles, especially with the likes of MacKenzie Wilson, Caitlyn Collier and Rachel Shapiro gotten considerably better as well?

This past track season, 2014 XC Champion Tsion Yared was hampered by injuries but has now been cleared to train once again.  Julia Montgomery found her form midway through the track season and now with the addition of Alyssa Pujals, Pine Crest seem like true title contenders.

Without a doubt, we can expect an exciting season of racing in the Girls 2A Classification.
