Updated 11:49 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012Qualifying for a Region IV berth was a priority, but most of the Johnson runner's motivation was helping the Jaguars defend their league title. Salazar helped make it happen by earning a gold medal in the 400-meter dash and running anchor on Johnson's winning 1,600-meter relay at Heroes Stadium. In addition to the titles, Johnson will be well-represented at the Region IV meet April 27-28 at Alamo Stadium, as the top three finishers in each event advanced. Kassie Freitag (300 hurdles), Erin Orozco (pole vault) and Carnae Dillard (triple jump) also won gold. Churchill's Jordan Worthington won the pole vault and long jump.
