Why use RunnerSpace as your main event page or as a fan page? RunnerSpace's content management system (CMS) is designed so that event and meet directors can easily create a event page for free. Paying a company to create a website that has everything that RunnerSpace has would cost many thousands of dollars. But here it is FREE!
What can you do with an event page? RunnerSpace event pages are capable of almost anything. Videos, news, photos, blogs, and more can be linked into the event page with a single click. Other event information can easily be inserted into custom boxes and new section tabs with unlimited sub folders and sub pages.
I want to make an awesome event page like others I see on the site but am not good with computers. What can I do? If you are having trouble with something while making an event page or would like RunnerSpace to creat a professional event page for you contact us for help and rates
Some examples of events pages created by RunnerSpace:
-Name your event - We like to leave the year out so we can use the page again the following year (i.e. Oregon Relays or Butte to Butte)
-Event Description - Brief overview of your event including (but not limited to!) race distance, course description, sponsors, who is putting the event on, as well as some links and maybe even a picture.
-Date, Event Info, and Categories - The only item besides the Event Name and Description that is absolutely required is the Category. However, filling in as many fields as possible will help people to find your event and will really help organize your event.
-Catchphrase - Be creative!
-Signup Address - Where people can sign up for the event
-Website - Event website OTHER than the RunnerSpace event page
-Contact Name
-Contact Number
-Location Address - Actual race address
-Category - REQUIRED
-Event Tags - Words that you think people would search for regarding your event, multiple word tags should have a dash and no spaces in between words (example tags: oregon-relays hayward rupp)
-Sport
-Level - The majority of athletes (i.e. Oregon Relays was "College DI"
-Location
-Max Guests - Maximum number of guests those attending are allowed to bring.
-Show guest list
-Public Event
-Display Rating - People can rate your event page between one and five stars.
-Add Event - Click this to create your event. It will take you to a page where you will begin attaching some pictures and images.
-Browse for images on your computer to add to your event. Event pages with pictures are far superior to ones without!
-Remember to click Upload and Save.
-You can then set the default image that will appear on the RunnerSpace Event page, as well as add Descriptions to each image.
-Again, click Upload and Save
Accessing Your RunnerSpace Event Page
-From the Event Page, click My Events
-Find your event in the list and click on the title to view it
-At the top you will see the RunnerSpace menu bar. Everything below this until Copyright on the bottom of the page is customizable.
-The event page appears to you just as it would anyone else viewing it with one exception: the "Editor Options" found just below the header bar that has the event name in it is yours alone to see and use. They are how you manipulate your event page. So let's begin!
Manipulating Your RunnerSpace Event Page
-Change Address
-Address here refers to the web address. Yes! You can actually change the url! For example http://www.runnerspace.com/event04839572u34r983 can be changed to http://www.runnerspace.com/oregonrelays. You will find easy instructions when you click on the Change Address button.
-Edit Event Details
-This takes you back to the original screen where you entered the name of your event, the description and categorized it. You can create your webpage, then go back later and add information to it once you finalize things about your event.
-Page Design
-Here is where you begin to really customize the look of your website. You can choose the theme style and the theme color (different styles have different color options) and preview it before actually saving your changes.
-You can also add some original graphic content using CSS code. If you're not familiar with CSS, RunnerSpace has several tutorials on how to include original content with CSS code. It's as easy as "copy and paste" and we highly recommend you use CSS to create a truly unique and original look for your RunnerSpace Event page. The Help Blog is a great source for CSS help.
-Page Layout
-Your Event page is set up to show different information in different blocks. Some of these blocks are pre-assigned, such as pictures, videos, and news. You also have the option of customizing your own blocks. More on this later.
-In Page Layout, you can move which blocks go where, as well as change the size and number of the columns of blocks on your page. This part is as easy as clicking and dragging and is explained in the Page Layout screen.
-Also, you can hide which blocks you don't want to see.
-Custom Blocks
-Along with your preassigned blocks, you can also create your own custom blocks, up to five actually.
-This is how RunnerSpace creates a Live Chat, for example, as the Block editor is equipped to build a miniature website within that little box. We've also used Custom Blocks to create a "Meet Info" or "Schedule of Events" block, which is all just text.
-Once created, they will appear in your Page Layout screen and you can move them around just as you would any other block.
-Adverts
-For now, this doesn't do anything.
-Blogs
-Here you can manage all the blogs that have been attached to the event. This includes the ability to remove blogs from your event.
-Photos
-Here you can create folders to organize photos into as well as place photos in appropriate folders.
-When a photo is uploaded it goes automatically to the Miscellaneous folder, from there you can move it to a folder named by you (i.e. Oregon Relays 2008).
-You can also move folders up and down to change their order as well as delete entire folders. Photos in deleted folders will return to the miscellaneous folder.
-Lastly, you can feature photos so that they appear on the main page of your event website.
-Videos
-Videos function much like photos. You can feature them, add and delete folders and individual videos, and change the order just as described above.
-News
-News functions just like the Blogs. You can remove news articles that have been attached to your event.
