Who I Am...

My name is Jeff Randall I was born in Eugene, Oregon and attended Sheldon High School. I was fortunate enough to go through the golden years of Oregon High School Track and Cross Country; the ones that produced such talent as Stuart Eagon, Ryan Vail, Ian Dobson and Galen Rupp. As such I went relatively unnoticed in high school and attracted no attention from U Oregon (Head coach at the time: Martin Smith) So I decided to try something new and went to school across the country.

I ended up in New York where I ran  4 years at Columbia University in NYC. My primary focus was the Steeplechase and Cross Country. I had early success as a freshman posting some of the best freshman times in the country (8:15 - Indoor 3000 & 9:04 - Outdoor Steeple) But then faltered through my sophmore and junior years and saw little improvement. My senior year I pulled it together and finished all Region in the Northeast Region and continued on to an even better Outdoor season, in which I ran 8:49 in the Steeple at Penn Relays and qualified for Nationals in Arkansas. I failed to make the finals or qualify for USA's like I had hoped to. Unfortunately having no extra eligibility I was not able to go to graduate school to continue running.

In college I studied Sociology and Sustainable Development. And I followed my studies to their logical conclusion... now I am in Iowa volunteering with the Hawkeye Women's Cross Country and Track team and working full time with a company that provides services and support to disabled Youth. I am continuing to train on my own with the hopes of lowering my PR's and running semi-pro.

I'm taking a wild guess that you run the SC after looking at you avatar. Do you run it for a school?
