American Record holder Chris Solinsky has switched from the 2-Mile to Friday's "Distance Night in Eugene" 10,000 Meter race. It will be only the second 10k of Solinsky's career. Last year, in a stunning debut in the event, he became the first American and first non-African to break the 27-minute barrier, with his 26:59.60.  He finished the year by becoming the first American to break 13:00 three times in one year in the 5000, the event where he starred as a collegian at Wisconsin.

Solinsky thus joins fellow American star Galen Rupp in a race which could see a new American record by either runner.

What a show...and it's free!  "Distance Night in Eugene" starts at 6:40 p.m. with the 30k world record attempt, followed by the women's 5000 at 8:25 p.m. and the men's 10k finishing up the evening under the lights at 8:50 p.m. Tickets for Saturday's blockbuster Prefontaine Classic will be on sale at the Bowerman Building ticket window during Friday's events.
