Walker's Pace: Wheating and Franek to Join NCAA Champions at Tuesdays in Track Town

OTC Elite stars Andrew Wheating and Bridget Franek have been added to the slate for tomorrow's "Tuesdays in Track Town."

Prevoisly announced NCAA Champions Matthew Centrowitz and Melissa Gergel will be the featured speakers at tomorrow's meeting, which will be the final edition of the popular series for 2011. Centrowitz won the 1,500 meters last week in Des Moines, Iowa, while Gergel captured the pole vault.

With the former Duck Wheating added to the schedule, the last two NCAA 1,500 meter champions will be in the room, not to mention the 2010 NCAA women's 3,000 meter steeplechase champion in Franek.

Tuesday's program will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oregon Electric Station, where free appetizers, coffee, soda and water will be served beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner entrées and other beverages may also be ordered off the regular menu.

In addition to the two NCAA Champions and the two OTC Elite stars, Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna will speak about next week's upcoming USA Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 23-26 at Hayward Field. There will also be a preview of next week's TrackTown12 year-out party, which will take place June 22 in the park blocks in downtown Eugene and celebrate the one-year countdown to the 2012 Olympic Trials.

"Tuesdays in Track Town" is free and open to the public.
