U.S. OLYMPIAN SYMMONDS TO ANNOUNCE WINNER OF eBAY AUCTION VIA ONLINE PRESS CONFERENCE ON JANUARY 18

U.S. Olympian Nick Symmonds will announce the winner of his “Your Twitter Name on an Olympian in 2012” eBay auction at a live press event on Wednesday, January 18. The winning individual or organization will have their Twitter handle placed on Symmonds’ left shoulder in the form of a temporary tattoo.

The auction lasted 10 days and received more than 22,000 page views, as well as significant buzz on social media networks. The winning bid was $11,100.
 
Symmonds will make the announcement and introduce the winner to the world via an online press conference.

ABOUT NICK SYMMONDS
Nick Symmonds is a middle-distance runner and a member of the Oregon Track Club. He competed for the United States in the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 800 meter event.  He is a four time defending USA Outdoor Champion and the defending Olympic Trials Champion in the 800-meter race. He currently ranks first in the U.S., sixth in the world at the 800-meter distance.
 
He announced he would be auctioning off his left shoulder on January 6 to raise money for his Olympic dreams.
