2009 Florida 3A State Cross Country Champion, Carly Thomas, Chiles High School in Tallahassee, Florida, has verbally committed to Florida State University and Coach Karen Harvey's Lady Seminoles distance program.

*********

Carly has been an instrumental harrier for Coach Gowan's teams during her high school career garnering 3 State XC team titles in 08, 09 and 2010 (3-Peat) and a runner-up podium finish in 2011.

Carly won her first individual State XC title in 2009 with one of the most historic 3A finishes up the "Green Monster" at Little Everglades Ranch after fading to 3rd place late in the race, with less than 100 metres to go.

It was at this point that Carly summoned one of the guttiest late race surges we have ever witnessed, surging from 3rd place with less than 50 metres to go, to ultimate victory, claiming her first and only individual State XC Championship in 18:20.

Carly finished 3rd at the 2011 3A State XC Championships with a personal best 17:53, the 3rd fastest time of the day across all classifications.

Carly will compete in both XC and Track for the Seminoles.  The Lady Noles are one of the nations most dominant distance programs under the Direction of 3rd year Head Coach Karen Harvey.  This past fall, her team was ranked #1 in the nation and finished 4th at the National NCAA Division 1 Championships after back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2009 and 2010.
