"It was a great way to go out, and a great, great way to end my senior year," Sladick said. "I'm just so happy I got a chance to compete with the other girls and also got a chance to show my Seacrest pride."
In the shot put, Sladick launched a throw of 36 fee, 10 1/4 inches, a mark that ended up being just seven inches behind the eventual winner.
"The shot put was a total surprise," Sladick admitted. "I was in first place for most of the event. I was so nervous that I thought I was going to vomit. It was a really close call."
